Our Story

Trumbull United Soccer Club (TUSC) is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization that provides an opportunity for Trumbull youth soccer players to learn the game, improve their skills and participate in regional competition at the travel and premier level. Our goal is to facilitate player development while promoting the important values of youth sports including teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit.

TUSC teams are composed of boys and girls players who reside in Trumbull and fall within the U8/U9 to U14/U15 age range. Teams participate at the Travel or Premier level as designated by the Director of Coaching (DOC). The DOC assigns a professional soccer coach to lead and instruct each team for each season and parents/guardians of team players volunteer to be team managers to help coordinate scheduling and communications. All team managers are voting members of the TUSC General Board of Directors (GBOD). High school aged teams are considered as dictated by appropriate levels of participation and interest.

TUSC Premier

Starting at U12, TUSC also offers a Premier program for more advanced players. TUSC Premier includes fall, winter and spring programming but requires an increased commitment from players and families in terms of practice time, travel to/from games and entry into more regional tournaments. Teams participate in the CJSA EDP & Premier League. Team practice sessions and home matches are played in Trumbull on both grass and indoor fields. Away games may involve travel to all of CT. In addition to league games, each team also participates in up to 4 tournaments a year within CT and surrounding states.

TUSC Travel

TUSC Travel is oriented towards players who are interested in developing their abilities beyond the recreational level. It includes fall, winter and spring programming that requires hard work and a full commitment by both players and parents. TUSC Travel includes games and tournaments against teams throughout Fairfield County. Teams compete at various levels within the Southwest District (SWD) of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA). Team placement depends upon the competitive and developmental needs of the players involved as decided by the DOC and coaching staff. Team practice sessions and home matches are played in Trumbull on both grass and indoor fields. Generally speaking, away games are within a 30-45 minute drive although there can be exceptions. In addition to league games, each team also participates in 2 tournaments (1 in the fall - typically Columbus Day weekend, 1 in the spring).

Tryouts / Season Schedules

Open tryouts are typically held in May in order to form teams for the following season (August/September start). The number of teams and roster sizes in each age group / level are primarily based on the number of qualified players who tryout. Tryouts are coordinated by the TUSC Tryout Committee and player evaluations / team placement are managed by the DOC and the coaching staff.

The TUSC season schedule typically begins in late August with 1-2 weeks of team practices prior to the beginning of the Fall season. CJSA Travel and EDP & Premier league games usually start in early September and run through early November. Teams are then “off” for several weeks through the holidays and resume winter training in early January. Winter workouts run through March and lead right into the Spring season with games beginning in early April through early June. More detailed information about practices, tournaments, and games are communicated via your team manager during the season.
